"Watt's Cooking in Italy?"

Watts Cooking Week

A 7 night programme from Saturday to Saturday

Saturday
If you are arriving by plane we will meet you at Brindisi airport (the Ryan Air flight arrives from Stansted just after 8pm). It is about a half hour drive to your accommodation. Once you have dropped your bags in your room, we will offer you a welcoming buffet/snack. Whilst you sample a few of the local delights, we will give a brief overview of what to expect during your stay.

Sunday
Your first cookery lesson will be held in the morning when you will learn the craft of home-made pasta. If the weather’s right we will be in the beautiful setting of the Masseria, under the vine-covered pergola. After lunching on your creations the time is yours until our evening trip to Ostuni, La città Bianca, the White City a fascinating town placed in the hills overlooking the Adriatic coastline. Here we can wander through the narrow alleys of the old town, buzzing with activity in the evening. Here we will have dinner.

Wine Tasting Outing

Monday
After a morning visit to the beautiful fortified town of Otranto, we will head for the olive groves to sample the olive oils. Afterwards we’ll head back to the Masseria but not without stopping for lunch.

You will have time to relax for a bit at the Masseria before leaving for a late afternoon cookery class at Paola’s place, a few minutes away, where we’ll stay for the evening.

Tuesday
It’s hands-on again this morning for your cookery class at Paola’s place where we will also have lunch. After relaxing for an hour or so back at the Masseria, we will meet up with Fabio for our guided tour of Lecce, which will be rounded off at the “Vineria” where Marco will give an overview on wine appreciation and present a range of different Italian wines followed by dinner which will be accompanied by the wines suggested by our wine expert.

Wednesday
There’s a After our morning lesson and lunch with Maria and Paola in the kitchen the afternoon is yours to relax before departing for a late afternoon and evening of wine at the area’s most renowned vineyard. After tasting these wonderful wines it will be time for dinner at a restaurant close by.

Thursday
Today you will have time to relax. No cooking in the kitchen today! We will leave you to your own devices until late afternoon when we will pick you up and take you to a vineyard in the south of Salento before heading for Gallipoli (no not that Gallipoli!!), a fortified seaside town on the Ionion coast, where we will have a guided tour, followed by dinner.

Friday
In the morning there is a chance for a quick trip to the market with Valentina which if you’re into shoes and bags, really should not be missed. We will then head into Lecce for a bite to eat before going back to the Masseria to relax.
We will have our evening cooking class at Paola’s again where we will also dine for the evening.

Saturday
It’s hands on again at Poalo’s for your last lesson when you will find out about the sweet things in life in Lecce. After lunch the afternoon is free for you to have time to pack and soak up that last drop of sunshine before we leave for the airport.
